In 2004, a special citizens committee was established to analyze the aging community swimming pool, and make a recommendation to the city council regarding their findings. The result of that four year study and recommendation is a shiny new $2.5 million outdoor Aquatic Center which opened to the public in July of 2009.

Located on the Northwest Corner of Kiwanis Park at Hickory Lane and Madison Street, this beautiful facility is the crown jewel of our parks system. With a zero depth beach entry design, the aquatic center offers 2 large run out slides, a drop slide, a diving board, two lap lanes, and a whirl cove to sit and relax.

For the young children, a floor fountain jet play area with interactive play features and a child slide, as well as a sand play area are available. The spacious bathhouse includes men and women restroom/changing rooms, a handicap restroom/changing room, and a family changing room. Available for rent by the hour is a party/meeting room, and a concession stand serves refreshments throughout the day. A lifeguard room includes a locker room and first aid area.

This outstanding facility has something to offer for all age groups. Aside from general swim times, five levels of swim lessons are available from June through July for 6 years and older, as well as parent/ child lessons for children from birth to 1 1/2 years, and introductory to water lessons for children 2-5 years old.

Adults also have their own time with lap swimming and water aerobics offered in the early mornings and evenings.

The entire facility is available for rent for special parties or events, and a nominal daily fee is charged. Seasonal passes are also available.

If you are planning a birthday party, family reunion, school event, or company outing, the Aquatic Center and adjoining Kiwanis Park facilities are the perfect setting.
